How payment works

Financing and Payment

We do not offer in-house financing. That is worth saying at the top rather than burying, along with the reason and what your options actually are.

Our payment terms

A 50 percent deposit books the job and holds your dates. The balance is due on completion, once you have walked the finished driveway with us and you are happy with it. We take cash or check.

The deposit is not a commitment fee or a design charge. It covers materials and the scheduling slot, which is a real cost to us the moment we book it, and it is credited in full against the job.

Why we do not offer financing

Contractor financing is almost never free money. When a company advertises no interest for twelve months, the lender is charging that company a fee of several percent on the job, and that fee is in your price whether you use the financing or not. Customers paying cash end up subsidising the ones who finance.

We would rather not build that into every quote. Keeping payment simple keeps the number lower for everybody, and a residential driveway is usually a small enough project that a homeowner has better borrowing options than a contractor-arranged plan anyway.

Options homeowners actually use

We do not have a referral arrangement with any of these and we earn nothing if you use them. They are simply what people around here tend to do.

  • A home equity line of creditUsually the cheapest way to borrow against a house for improvement work, and the interest may be deductible. Worth asking your own bank or credit union about.
  • Local credit unionsCentral Massachusetts has several with straightforward personal loan products, and rates are often better than a contractor-arranged plan carrying a hidden dealer fee.
  • Phasing the workThis is the one we can genuinely help with. If the budget is tight, doing the structural work now and the sealcoating next season, or repairing the failed sections rather than replacing the whole drive, often gets you most of the benefit for a fraction of the cost.
  • Waiting a seasonSometimes the honest advice. If your driveway has three or four years left in it, spending on crack filling now and paving properly later is better than borrowing to do it today.

What you will never be asked for

No payment in full up front. No cash-only pressure. No price that expires today if you sign now. No door-knock offer with leftover material from another job, which is the oldest driveway scam there is and it runs through Worcester County every summer.

If somebody is pushing any of those at you, it is worth getting a second quote from anyone at all, including a competitor of ours.
